There's No Place Like Home for Rugby

Yesterday we introduced Rugby to his new home and I don't think it could have gone better! Rugby immediately scoped out his living quarters and was quickly comfy in his crate. The breeder mentioned that he might be a little mellow and not eat immediately due to all the activity, not-so-much with the Rug-A-Muffin. He has been extremely playful and has been gulping down his meals. In addition, he is such a cuddle bug! The best part of our first day together? He cried for about five minutes at 5am and that was it, makes us feel like we did everything the right way!

This little guy has already changed our lives and we are so excited for all of our Rugby adventures and hope you are all ready for the ride!

The "Ultimate" Introduction

On Sunday, November 6th, Mike and I became one step closer to finally getting Rugby!

After an extended breeder search, we found our perfect match in George and Kim Lai of Ultimate Bulldogs. The wait and research has been worth it as we immediately connected with Kim and got the opportunity to meet this little lady...

Little girl was going home to her new family the next day and it was fun and exciting to interact with a bulldog puppy.

I did realize though, when she was snuggled up to me and snoring, that this might have done more damage than good as I am now chomping at the bit to have our little man home (even more so than before)! Hopefully we will have news in the next month about Rugby and fingers crossed that Santa will have a little fur ball for us!

It is HOT...

Memorial Day weekend came in on fire as the temps soared to the upper 80's... I need to learn how to enjoy the one week of spring weather that we have in New York...

So in spirit of summer, this post will include key things that we will need to ensure that everyone is comfy and not worrying about a little fur-ball overheating!

Here is the magical list!

Seriously? A Middle Name?

Yup! Rugby Marcel LeBlanc-Tridente, it’s long but perfect for the little guy. You may ask, how and why the heck did you pick Marcel for the middle name??? It is all thanks to this AMAZING youtube video titled “Marcel the Shell With Shoes On” Please take the next 3 minutes and 22 seconds to watch this little piece of amazingness…

You may think I am crazy, but at least I will be prepared...

So, as many of you know, I have been doing renovations to my apartment and on Thursday (5/12) I had quite the shock when I got the quote for my bathroom from my contractor… full on hyperventilating and panic quickly ensued. It almost ruined my entire day until I went to my Sunnyside home and Rugby’s Puppy Daddy, also known as Mike, had a present for me. He really knows how to cheer me up…

In addition to this fabulous book, we also have an ongoing shopping/research list of sorts for all the fabulous toys, collars (one for every holiday of course), and everything else that goes with owning a dog. I am very proud (although Rugby is going to be very expensive)...

A History of Obsession

Rugby. A name that miraculously popped into my head three years ago when trying to figure out the BEST and most fitting representation of the English Bulldog that I would one day have. I will admit that the past four years has involved thousands of moments of dreaming, wishing and hoping for one of these smushy-faced little guys of my own:

Welcome to SmotheringRugby and the trials and tribulations of wanting and perhaps FINALLY getting Rugby in 2011!
